What is it? CrossFit is a strength and conditioning workout that takes place in a box (aka gym). However, this gym is free of treadmills and elypticals, and in their place you’ll find skipping ropes, mats, kettlebells and tyres. But if you think it’s just for kids, think again. A CrossFit workout will have you burning calories in seconds.

How’s It Work  An average hour long class will feature a warm up, a skill session, the WOD (workout of the day) and then a cool down. Thanks to its military roots these WOD are usually named after women. They are rarely repeated so your body has to continually adapt.  Thanks to the camaraderie in these boxes, you’ll soon nail those box jumps, burpees, rope climbs and shuttle runs, which all feature in the workouts.

Who’s It Aimed At? Anyone who wants to get into shape. Whether you’re just starting out or you want to take your workout to the next level, a session in a box is perfect for you.

Get qualified If you want to work in a box, you don’t have to catch a flight to get a qualification, you can sign up with the CrossFit LifeSpark team who are now holding CrossFit Level 1 courses.
